A good relationship needs faith and trust
As John Updike says “we are most alive when we’re in love”, the relationship has the potential to make you a better person or just break you emotionally. A healthy relationship is one that lets you be yourself and make you feel loved like never before. It’s the connection between two hearts where even if words fail to express eyes don’t. The ingredients to make the dish called relationship healthier are trust, love, intimacy, respect, care, passion, and commitment. According to scientists, being in love triggers positive reactions in our body due to the release of neurochemicals and feel-good hormones.
THE NEED TO LOVE:
All of us have a deep desire to be loved and pampered by someone. Need of maintaining your mental health is equally important as maintaining your physical health. So, to maintain your mental health in the midst of this depressing society you need a special emotion to destroy the demon called stress. That special emotion is termed as “love”. In a recent survey, people with a healthy and happy relationship are the ones with less stress and more peace of mind.
Love gives us mental support to tackle irritation. It enriches the quality of life. As we all know “Love makes the world to go around”, people hold on to each other, have each other’s back so that whatever life might put them through they’ll have a shoulder to lie and pour the salty droplets from their eyes off and face complications with a simple smile.
The toughest task in someone’s life is to find your better half. It’s never easy to build a relationship. It is not just a task but the major responsibility of your adulthood. There’s never a specific quality to search for but you need to feel comfortable and happy when you are around your mate. As you might have come across the famous quote “you don’t find love, love finds you”, love shows up in the most unexpected time and adds colors to your life in a more beautiful way.
Look beyond the appearance of a person as “appearances are deceptive”. A nicer body and prettier face might get followers on social media but not true love. Character is the replica of your heart. Look deeper into their soul.
A soulful connection is the best ever thing someone could have on this planet. Take time to analyze whether it's love or just a temporary distraction or attraction. Rather than focusing and trying to be a perfect couple try to be best friends which may fill your love life with contentment.
MAINTAINING A RELATIONSHIP:
Attention and care are two wheels that drive the relationship bike perfectly. Love is the fuel and fights are just like breaks to put you on the path safely. The difference in opinion is common among two people having a long conversation (especially your better half). But that should never affect your relationships as it just creates a gap between you two. Just stay calm and don’t try to prove yourself because “To err is human and to forgive is divine”.
So, don’t forget to go on dates frequently. Allot time for each other despite your busy schedules. Stand by your partner’s side when he/she is facing a crisis. Appreciate your differences, so that loving each other and living together becomes ravish. Be trustworthy and honest which is the key to any relationship. Redefine the word “Intimacy”: Hold hands as you walk, lie on your partner’s lap for a nap. Cherish every moment that you’ve spent together.
HOW RELATIONSHIPS FAIL:
There are three main reasons due to which relationships fail, they are Non-acceptance, lack of trust, and poor communication. These days relationships are more focused on posting their personal life on social media rather than spending time together.
“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved”. Never let your partner lose faith in you and don’t keep doubting. If a relationship lacks trust then there’s no bond to stay attached. Ending a relationship is not a child’s play. It puts people through a lot of stress that may result in depression. Try to sort out your problems instead of putting yourself through anxiety kind of disorders.
LOVE AND ROMANCE:
The most important part of a relationship is romance. Rather than a candlelight expensive dinner just focus on cuddling all night. Romance is what makes you into a relationship beyond friendship. It's an attractive force that makes you and your other half to get connected in a deeper way. Romance is like adding salt to your dishes, without it love would become tasteless.
Love is a drug; it makes you feel both the edges of emotions deeper. You can’t always say you admire or adore your partner. To prove that romance tries to bridge the emotional gap between you both. A fun fact is that “stress can be reduced by sleeping next to the person you love the most (soulmate).” During teens, romance would be the only thing that excites you to be in a relationship. As you grow older romances become short but cute.
TRIANGULAR THEORY OF LOVE:
So, this theory of love was proposed by phycologist Robert Sternberg. According to him, love was a combination of 3 major components:
With the different combination of three components, there are eight forms of love:
None of the above components are involved
Combination of intimacy and passion.
Combination of passion, intimacy, and commitment.
Combination of intimacy and commitment.
Combination of passion and commitment.
This love triangle is important to understand to maintain a healthy and happy relationship.
A relationship is what a person craves while being lonely, disturbed, or even stressed. It gives your life meaning. Love takes you into a world of fantasy that no other emotion could take you to. Respect, admire, and trust your loved one and enjoy the experience of what it is to be in love.
